Dental crowns are one of the more popular methods used to fix broken teeth. They’re also great at healing damaged smiles too. But the process of getting a crown – or when you’d even need one – isn’t something that many people are intimately familiar with. This is a good thing, since crowns are usually used only when you have significant damage to your teeth.

So today, let’s educate you on what dental crowns are and how they’re used.

What are they?
Dental crowns are exactly what they sound like – a crown for your teeth. They’re usually made from some kind of plastic or ceramic material, and they’re used to help restore a tooth to its former usability. You’ll likely get a consultation from a dentists before deciding if crowns are the best course of action for your needs.

Why would I need one?
You need a crown when some sort of damage has happened to your teeth – usually the biting surface of a molar – that makes the tooth less effective and stable than it previously was. Dr. Jim D. Nored will install the crown to restore your tooth to its former self. The process is done in-office at our [pratice_name] location in Crosby, Texas.

How do they work?
Crowns are created on a case by case basis to match your teeth. Usually, they have to be ground down a bit to fit the new crown. This is called forming an abutment. Then, once everything fits right, the crown is glued onto the abutment. You’re left with something that looks, functions, and feels like a brand-new tooth.

If you’re ready for crowns in your life, or simply want to know more, call us today at 281-328-3569 to see how we can help. We’re excited to help you on your cosmetic dentistry journey.

If the number of cavities you develop despite daily oral hygiene practices seems unfair, especially compared to people who never have cavities, our team is here to help you. We review how genetics can increase your risk of cavities by causing soft tooth enamel and teeth that are crowded.

When genetics are largely responsible for the risk of cavities, the root of the problem can be complex. To help you prevent cavities from occurring in soft tooth enamel, take note of how you brush your teeth and gums. If you use too much pressure, this can result in dental harm. You may also need to cut out soda to avoid further tooth enamel loss.

It’s important to correct crowded teeth so that your smile isn’t harboring a lot of bacteria that can’t be removed with daily brushing and flossing. Treatments for crowded teeth can include orthodontics and tooth extraction, and Dr. Jim D. Nored happy to help you determine which treatment approach is ideal for your oral health.

We strive to detect and address your cavities as soon as possible so that we can provide conservative treatment for tooth decay and avoid extensive tooth damage.

You are welcome to contact Crosby Dental Center at 281-328-3569 today and arrange a time to speak with our dentist if you are in need of cavity treatment in Crosby, Texas.

It is important to make sure you take every necessary precaution to ensure cavities do not arise in your smile. Cavities are most often present due to dental erosion that affects your tooth enamel. Always set up or establish a cavity prevention plan to keep your teeth safe and healthy through the years.

It’s always a good idea to assess your oral health care hygiene habits to help in the prevention of cavities. Cavities form when holes in your tooth enamel are present. This means harmful acids have eroded your teeth to the point that severe damage will occur to the inner parts of a tooth. When this happens, it means that your oral health care treatments are not adequately doing their job of washing away debris and neutralizing acids associated with it. As a general rule of thumb, you should be brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing every day as well.

To give you a stunning smile and the best chance for oral health care success, it is important to make sure you are accurately cleaning your teeth on a daily basis. Furthermore, if you are brushing and flossing every single day, there is even more you could be doing to help keep your smile clean. By using mouthwash and sugarless chewing gum, you can help rinse away bad bacteria and plaque buildup that may linger behind.

Speak with your dentist about product recommendations or suggestions to improve your oral health. This can be truly beneficial for your teeth that are potentially at greater risk for cavities. To help keep cavities from damaging your smile, improve your diet, avoid unhealthy snacks, and receive the necessary professional cleanings every six months from your dentist.

Restore your oral health to the very best it can be with cavity prevention treatments. If you are in need of cavity prevention treatments from our team at Crosby Dental Center at our dentist office in Crosby, Texas, please contact us at 281-328-3569 to schedule an appointment or consultation with Dr. Jim D. Nored. We look forward to helping you in any way we can.

If you want a top-notch smile and oral health, then there are things you need to do on a regular basis to care for the teeth and gums. Unfortunately, there are many things that attack and harm the smile, which might make caring for the mouth a bit difficult. However, there is no need to worry. Our dentist, Dr. Jim D. Nored, is more than happy to help you. It’s best to keep up on oral hygiene, attend your checkups every six months, and avoid the things that harm the smile. Those things are:

-Having poor oral hygiene: If you don’t brush (twice a day), floss (once a day), rinse (once a day), and attend your checkups (every six months), then your smile can be vulnerable to many dental issues, like cavities and periodontal disease. It’s very important to have good oral hygiene.

-Chewing on pens and pencils: Chewing on tough things can harm your teeth because it can create small cracks in the enamel. As you continue to chew, the crack can get bigger and bigger, which can result in a fully damaged tooth.

-Consuming foods and drinks that harm the smile: The harmful products include those that are acidic and sugary. If you consume these foods and drinks regularly, you can suffer enamel erosion and cavities.

Brushing your teeth is pretty straightforward, right? Toothpaste to brush, brush to mouth, scrub-a-dub-dub, done. Right? In reality, it turns out that brushing effectively is a little more complicated than that. It’s imperative to understand the right method to brush your teeth so you can protect your oral health from bacterial acids that can cause cavities and tooth erosion. Dr. Jim D. Nored put together some ideas for you so that you can brush more effectively:

-When tooth-brushing, tilt the toothbrush head to a 45-degree tilt against your gums, then roll the brush away in an outward wave. Removing leftover food remnants is critical to upholding solid dental health; when debris stay between your teeth, they harbor cavity-causing bacteria and acids. Utilize this technique to brush away debris.

-Sweep both the outsides and the insides of your teeth, and also brush the chewing surfaces of your teeth. Making sure you hit each area of your teeth can be difficult, so brush in this sequence to make sure you’re scrubbing each spot of them. Use the brushing motion to brush every tooth.

-Don’t forget to brush your tongue. Brushing your tongue can help you freshen breath, and it also displaces harmful bacteria from your mouth. A brushing benefit that maintains your dental health and also ups your social game? Nice!

If you’d like to learn more about right method to brush teeth, please give our Crosby, Texas, office a call at 281-328-3569. Our dentist and team at Crosby Dental Center wants you to have the greatest teeth and shiniest smile you possibly can! We’ll see you soon!
