What do you think of when you hear the words dental damage? What about tooth hazard risks? Although we often think about oral accidents and injuries, the truth is that most incidents that occur with your oral health are due to foods and drinks you consume. Because the products you eat on an everyday basis are at such a high risk for damaging your smile, it’s always a good idea to assess what you can do to help protect your mouth.

Several oral health risks and tooth hazard risks are linked to foods in your diet, which is because there are several substances and ingredients even in the most mundane of products that can destroy your tooth enamel and gums. Even products such as sports drinks and fruit drinks have ingredients that can be broken down in your mouth into harmful acids that will chew through your enamel. Be aware that all products that are heavily laden with sugars or starches can potentially cause significant tooth hazard risks.

Another common cause of dental damage is due to a tooth hazard risks associated with using your teeth to open products, which could be something as simple as a bottle cap or a plastic package. Never use your teeth for this task as it can lead to an instant oral accident. Instead, use bottle openers or other handy tools nearby.

Lastly, beware of the risks associated with constant snacking throughout the day. The more often you snack, the less saliva that ends up being produced in your mouth. Furthermore, by snacking too frequently, you are increasing the time that your teeth and gums are exposed to food particles and debris.

Come speak with Crosby Dental Center for an assessment of any tooth hazard risks you may have. To schedule an oral exam with Dr. Jim D. Nored and our team at our dental office in Crosby, Texas, give us a call at 281-328-3569.

Are you practicing effective toothbrush care? Have you selected a toothbrush that can adequately fulfill the needs required of it? Are you using the proper techniques to clean your teeth? All of these questions and more should always be answered due to the significance of brushing your teeth. It is suggested that you should brush your teeth twice every day, and this is a vital step for showing off memorable oral health. Here are some tips to remember about brushing:

– Always make sure to brush on all sides of a tooth focusing on not missing any areas. Because brushing cannot reach between teeth, an alternative interdental cleaner such as dental floss will be needed to reach these areas.

– Always make sure you’re brushing your teeth at least twice every day. Ideally, each session should take between 2 to 3 minutes.

– Don’t forget to brush your tongue as it is often a safe zone for bacteria.

– Exercise caution with sticky foods that brushing alone cannot always remove.

– Eat a healthy diet that focuses on enamel-building minerals, and be sure to limit between meal snacks. This can lower the amount of food debris in your mouth that can damage your teeth.

– Avoid brushing your teeth immediately after meals. This is because your teeth are highly sensitive at this time and brushing can potentially damage your tooth enamel due to abrasive toothpaste or toothbrushes. Instead, try using mouthwash or another similar nonabrasive cleaner.

– When brushing your teeth, use a 45-degree angle and soft, gentle strokes. However, when brushing your front teeth, turn the brush vertical.

An incomplete smile can cause numerous oral health risks. A single lost tooth can increase the rate at which tooth decay can occur. Missing teeth can also lower your mouth’s ability to function properly and can even cause other healthy teeth to move around due to gaps between teeth that will now exist. Thus, a replacement will be required. One helpful treatment to consider is a dental bridge.

Dental bridges are extremely effective because they can help complete your smile once again. In some situations, they can restore functions that may have been lost due to a hindrance with your oral profile. Dental bridges can restore lost skills, including the ability to chew or eat, or even to speak correctly. Dental bridges are also highly effective for fixing bite stability that may have been hindered as well as space maintenance to ensure teeth do not move and slide around. In situations where tooth slippage has occurred, dental bridges can be used to hold teeth in stable positions as the gap will be filled in. Dental bridges are also beneficial in situations when your jaw is not strong enough to hold a dental implant. This is because dental bridges are attached an anchored to nearby teeth.

Don’t postpone a visit to our team at Crosby Dental Center to check if you are suffering from missing or lost teeth that require dental bridge prosthetics. If you are in need of a dentist in Crosby, Texas, please call us at 281-328-3569, you can schedule an appointment with Dr. Jim D. Nored and our team at our dentist office.

If you are in need of a therapeutic mouthwash to help keep your smile safe and add additional protection for your teeth and gums, be sure to visit your dentist for product recommendations and suggestions. With a therapeutic mouthwash, you can help treat numerous oral ailments that can exist and can help to effectively wash away plaque buildup and food debris that can linger in your mouth long after eating.

Whenever you find the time to employ effective oral health care habits to improve your smile, do so. With mouthwash, you can easily improve your oral hygiene through the use of simple mouthwash treatments daily. In addition, mouthwash tends to be highly effective at times when brushing and flossing alone may not be functioning at their best or may be out of reach. Typically, mouthwash can be effective in the middle of the day or at times when you’re on-the-go.

Always make sure to visit your dentist for routine check-ups and oral examinations. To ensure your mouth is adequately functioning as intended, speak with your dentist about product recommendations or suggestions for mouthwash products that can improve your smile. Ideally, you should look for products that remove stains, discolorations, prevent plaque buildup, and reduce the speed of tartar.

Even though gum disease is a serious infection of your gum tissue, it can be prevented. By following healthy lifestyle habits, effective oral health treatment plans, and a regular visit to your dentist, you can vastly lower your risks for gum disease.

Healthy lifestyle habits that help prevent gum disease include avoiding products or substances that can easily damage your smile. This includes smoking or chewing tobacco, and using drugs. Furthermore, a poor diet that is high in sugar and low in nutritious foods and minerals including calcium and phosphorus can increase your risk for gum disease.

Some risk factors for gum disease are beyond your control. This includes risks associated with medications, pregnancy, genetics, and hormonal changes. If you have any changes in any of these factors, visit our office for non-surgical treatments to help ensure your smile stays strong throughout the holiday season.

Keep your smile safe from the dangers of gum disease. If you would like to meet with Dr. Jim D. Nored and our team at Crosby Dental Center for an examination, please call 281-328-3569 to schedule an appointment at our dentist office in Crosby, Texas. We will ensure you get the smile you desire.

Are you familiar with tooth brushing and its effect on your smile? When you need to keep your teeth clean and clear of hazardous debris and bacteria, you can always rely on brushing. If you do not, your entire mouth may suffer. The basics of tooth brushing include the following:

– Avoid sharing your brush or cross contaminating your brush with others.
– Stick to a brushing routine that includes brushing your teeth at least twice per day.
– If your toothbrush is broken, contaminated, or worn down, replace it. Traditional toothbrushes last roughly 3-4 months.
– Stay away from brushing your teeth right after eating, as your teeth may be extra sensitive during this time. This can be abrasive to your tooth enamel and damage your teeth.
– Be sure to store your toothbrush in a safe and secure area both upright and with proper ventilation.
– Use a brush with soft bristles that is big enough to easily clean and reach all spaces inside your mouth.
– If you have issues or problems with brushing your teeth manually, try switching to an electric toothbrush.

If you happen to suffer an oral accident or injury, do not agonize over the prospect of a failed smile, as there are a plethora of tooth restoration treatments available to you to ensure your teeth can return to an ideal state of health, beauty, and functionality.

If a whiter smile is something you desire, teeth whitening treatments can be implemented. However, many store-bought brands are unregulated and can seriously damage your tooth enamel or bleach your gums. Always consult with your dentist before using over-the-counter whitening kits. Alternatively, professional teeth whitening systems applied directly at our dentist office are designed to be of the highest safety and effectiveness.

If you are looking to cover the front of a tooth to hide or conceal tooth discolorations or abnormalities, our dental veneers can be used. Furthermore, if you are looking to fully conceal a tooth to improve your smile and protect the tooth from future damage and decay, our metal-free dental crowns may be your best option.

No matter which tooth restoration therapy you desire, Dr. Jim D. Nored and our team at Crosby Dental Center will make sure that your smile is properly treated. To schedule an oral exam or professional cleaning at our dentist office in Crosby, Texas, please contact us at 281-328-3569. We look forward to helping you in any way we can!
